Heidelberg Reformation Association History The
Heidelberg Reformation Association was formed on June 4, 2007 after
recognizing some basic concerns evident in the church today.
First, there are many churches who once held to the glorious
tradition and doctrine found in the Heidelberg Catechism that are no
longer Reformed in doctrine. Some of them have retained the name
Reformed because it was their history. The second concern was for
churches who have retained their Reformed heritage and doctrine.
What can be done to help them to retain their doctrinal heritage?
It was with these concerns in mind, that the HRA was formed with
five founding members. While the founding members we are from
Pennsylvania, we desire that the HRA would expand beyond our geographic
boundaries.
On July 26, 2007, the Heidelberg Reformation Association revised it constitution and added by-laws. The major changes are the additions of a statement regarding male headship in the church and home, a catagory of membership for individuals who are not pastors or members of member churches, a three person executive committee with a coordinating secretary, and a treasurer position. Our first annual meeting was held October 6, 2007 at St. Paul's Reformed Church in Bedford, PA. Rev. Bill Bruinsma gave the message. New members were received, and some minor revisions to the constitution were made. It was decided that the HRA should hold a Spring Bible Conference each year in addition to the annual meeting. The first Spring Bible Conference will be held May 27-29, 2008 again in Bedford, PA. For a brief history of the German Reformed Church click here. |
